The Brazilian Journal of Botany is an international journal dedicated to a diverse range of research in plant sciences, including biogeography, cytogenetics, ecology, physiology and biochemistry, morphology and anatomy, molecular biology and diversity, phycology, palynology, and systematics and phylogeny.

- The Official journal of Botanical Society of São Paulo
- Encourages manuscripts describing new taxa based on multiple-source morphological data
- Floristic inventories and checklists must include new and relevant information, such as conservation strategies and biogeographic patterns
- Does not consider submissions dealing exclusively with methods and protocols, biological activity of extracts without detailed chemical analysis, and manuscripts with an agronomical focus
